In an effort to raise awareness of proper eye care and to thank the local community for their support, Somerset Surgery joined forces with Dr Paul Keet, Dr Mpopi Lenake, Dr LC Marais, The Eye Centre and Blaine & Associates to sponsor five cataract operations. These specially selected patients have been on a waiting list for an extended period and cannot afford private health care. The procedures took place on 19 October.
Somerset Surgery provided the theatre, while Drs Keet, Lenake and Marais offered their services. Dr Keet has been part of this initiative for the past 18 years and he has helped more than 100 patients. Somerset Surgery has been involved in the sponsorship for five years.
