Somerset Surgery’s Recovery Retreat is conveniently located in the medical hub of Somerset West – within walking distance of Vergelegen MediClinic and most of the medical service providers in the area.
Our Recovery Retreat offers overnight accommodation to pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as family members needing a place to stay while their loved ones are treated in hospital. We combine the best of a luxury guesthouse with the added advantage of appropriate nursing care if needed for each individual’s requirements.
We offer a wide variety of services to patients and their families to ensure that they experience care, comfort, support and security.

ROOMS
Superior Twin
Situated in main house with en-suite bathroom. Consists of separate bath, shower and hand basin. Flat screen TV with DSTV and aircon. No meals included.
Self-Catering 1 (single room)
Situated in a separate section of the main house with en-suite bathroom. Consists of shower and hand basin. Flat screen TV with DSTV and aircon. SC1 and SC2 share a bathroom. No meals included
Self-Catering 2 (single room)
Situated in a separate section of the main house with an en-suite bathroom. Consists of shower and hand basin. Flat screen TV with DSTV and aircon. SC1 and SC 2 share a bathroom. No meals included.
Ward Room (Semi-private)
Situated in the main house with an en-suite bathroom. Consists of separate bath, shower and hand basin. Flat screen TV with DSTV and aircon. All meals included.
CARE LEVEL
Level 1
Assisted recovery with nursing care.
Major pain management, drips, injections, medications, frequent monitoring of vital signs, assistance with toilet, bathing, dressing. All meals served in bed included.
Level 2
Assisted recovery with nursing care.
Frequent monitoring of vital signs, minor pain management, assistance with toilet, bathing, dressing. Meals served in bed or in dining room included.
RESERVATIONS & CANCELLATIONS

Reservations
All reservations are secured with a R500 deposit or with a R500 hold on your credit card. Should you cancel your reservation at short notice, the charge will be deducted from your credit card/retained by Somerset Surgery as per agreement.
Cancellations
In terms of chapter 2, Section 1 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, Somerset Surgery’s Recovery Retreat is committed to best practice and such has aligned its refunds policy to be in line with the Consumer Protection Act (section 17, subsection 3(b), 4(a-d)).
– In the event that your reservation is cancelled within 3 days – 100%
– 3 to 7 days – 75%
– 8 to 13 days – 50%
– 14 – 29 days – 25% of the total invoiced amount is payable
– More than 30 days prior to arrival – no charge
– For non-arrival/no show/premature departure, 100% of the accommodation cost will be payable
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

Check-out
Check-out time is strictly 11 am. If you wish to stay until 6 pm and the room is available, an additional day room charge will apply. The full rate applies after 6 pm. Upon departure, rooms and their fixtures are required to be in good working condition. Please remember to hand in your room key at reception before your departure. Should you require an early check-out, it should be pre-arranged with Reception by 6 pm the night before.
Check-in
Check-in is from 2 pm daily. If you wish to check-in earlier and the room is available, we will be happy to accommodate you. Should you arrive later than 7 pm or over a weekend, please make special arrangements at least 24 hours in advance.
No other persons – other than those registered with Reception – are permitted to share the accommodation.
