Dear patient,

You can expect an optimal surgical experience in Somerset Surgery’s state-of-the-art theater, where your safety is our first priority. Our doctor and staff aim for the highest quality care delivered with warmth, friendliness, individual pride and spirit of togetherness. Our Recovery Retreat provides a private place to recover with appropriate nursing care.

We trust you will enjoy your experience with us. Please take not of the following information to ensure youe admission in seamless:

Prior to admission

You must register at Somerset Surgery in person or on our website before your surgical date. you can complete the online admission process or bring the completed forms and supporting documents in person at least 5 days prior to your surgery/procedure.

Online pre-admission

To complete the online pre-admission process you need the following documents ready (scanned in so you can attach them to the online pre-admission form)

  • A copy of the medical aid membership card (Front and Back)
  • ID document of the patient

 

  • Medical aid patients must obtain an authorisation letter containing:
    • ICD10 Codes
    • CPT Codes
    • Authorisation number from your medical aid
If authorisation has not been obtained at the time of doing this pre-admission, you can forward the authorisation letter (PRIOR TO ADMISSION/SURGERY) to bookings@somersetsurgery.co.za once received.

PRACTICE TERMS: We cannot negotiate with your medical aid on your behalf. Cosmetic surgery quotations are negotiated individually and must be paid in full before admission. Private patients for elective procedures must settle in full on the day of the procedure. Any shortfall not covered by your medical aid will be for your account. Interest will be added to accounts older than 30 days. If a booking is cancelled in less than 72 hours, an administration fee may be levied.

Submit the conditions for admissions document

I have completed my registration and need to submit conditions for admissions documents.

You can mail the completed form to: bookings@somersetsurgery.co.za or bring it in person at least 24 hours prior to your surgery/procedure.

Medical Aid patients

  • We charge medical aid rate and will submit the claims electronically
  • Any co-payments must be made before/on the day of your surgery

Private patients

  • You are responsible for three separate payments: to the surgeon, anaesthetist and Somerset Surgery.
  • You will recieve an itemised invoice after your procedure and you will need to settle all your accounts before your discharge (credit card facilities are available)
  • All cosmetic procedures must be paid two weeks prior to surgical date.

Recovery retreat

If you are staying overnight, you will be taken to the Recovery Retreat by an ambulance service at no extra cost. It is situated opposite Somerset Surgery Day Hospital and offers overnight accommodation for you and your family members, should they wish to stay with you.

We combine the best of a luxury guesthouse with the added advantage of appropriate nursing care if needed for each individual’s requirements. A wide variety of services ensure that you and your family can experience care, comfort, support and security.
