You can expect an optimal surgical experience at Somerset Surgery’s state-of-the-art theatre, where your safety is our top priority. Our doctors and staff are committed to delivering the highest quality care with warmth, friendliness, professionalism, and a spirit of togetherness.

Our Recovery Retreat provides a private and comfortable environment for recovery, supported by appropriate nursing care.

We trust you will enjoy your experience with us. Please take note of the following information to ensure your admission is seamless:

Prior to admission

You must register with Somerset Surgery in person or via our website before your surgical date. You may complete the online admission process or bring the completed forms and supporting documents in person at least 5 days prior to your procedure.

Online pre-admission

To complete the online pre-admission process, please have the following documents ready (scanned and available for upload):

  • A copy of your medical aid membership card (front and back)
  • Patient ID document

Medical aid patients must also obtain an authorisation letter containing:

  • ICD-10 codes
  • CPT codes
  • Authorisation number from your medical aid

If authorisation has not yet been obtained, you may forward the authorisation letter prior to admission/surgery to: bookings@somersetsurgery.co.za

PRACTICE TERMS:
  • We cannot negotiate with your medical aid on your behalf.
  • Cosmetic surgery quotations are handled individually and must be paid in full prior to admission.
  • Private patients undergoing elective procedures must settle their accounts in full on the day of the procedure.
  • Any shortfall not covered by your medical aid will be for your account.
  • Interest will be charged on accounts older than 30 days.
  • Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the procedure may incur an administration fee.

Submit the completed form by:

Medical Aid patients

  • Claims will be submitted electronically at medical aid rates
  • Any co-payments must be settled before or on the day of surgery

Private patients

  • Three separate payments are required: surgeon, anaesthetist, and Somerset Surgery
  • An itemised invoice will be issued after your procedure
  • All accounts must be settled before discharge (credit card facilities available)
  • Cosmetic procedures must be paid a minimum of two weeks prior to surgery

Recovery retreat

If you are staying overnight, you will be transported to the Recovery Retreat by ambulance at no additional cost. It is located opposite Somerset Surgery Day Hospital.

The Retreat combines the comfort of a luxury guesthouse with the added benefit of professional nursing care when required. A wide range of services ensures a supportive, safe, and comfortable recovery experience.
