Your questions answered.

Q: What can be done about my flabby upper arms?

A: A plastic surgeon will be able to accurately assess if your “flabby arms” can be treated by liposuction alone or if a more invasive procedure to remove excess skin may be necessary. Read more

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the armpit and the elbow, reshapes your arm and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance.

Fluctuations in weight and simply growing older cause your upper arms to have a drooping, sagging appearance. Exercise may strengthen and improve the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm, but it cannot address excess skin – this has to be cut away. It is important to remember that there will be an unavoidable scar running from the armpit to the elbow. Due to this scar, you may not achieve your dream of showing off your arms like Michelle Obama, even after the procedure. However, with the correct pre- and post-operative advice on wound care and scar management, the impact of the scarring can be managed for optimum results.

If the underside of your upper arms are sagging or appear loose due to excess skin and fat, an arm lift may be right for you.
