Somerset Surgery treats guests at its ever-popular biennial event

Somerset West – Somerset Surgery (incorporating MASC Laser Clinic) hosted its biennial Naked Truth event on the 18th September, where valued clients gathered for an intimate occasion regarding skincare and aesthetic surgical procedures. Hosted in the beautiful Laurent venue at Lourensford Estate, the function has grown in popularity, with the number of attendees having more than doubled since the first inaugural event.

“The freedom of confidence”

Themed around “the freedom of confidence”, the day’s events focused on educating guests on the aspects of cosmetic surgery and skincare – the science, the reality, the results that can be expected – by sharing professional insights and personal stories in an open and non-threatening environment.

Sheldene Toogood, director of Somerset Surgery, explains the vision of the event: “Plastic surgery is private, and people don’t talk about it, so people are under so many misconceptions about what plastic surgery can do for them. Having an event like the Naked Truth allows us to engage with our community, show them what’s available and educate them. … it gives people the truth with regards to what they can hope to achieve and what is reasonable to expect from aesthetic and cosmetic treatments.”

Talks, treatments and treats

A panel of experts gave talks and advice, performed live demos of non-surgical procedures and answered questions from attendees. Speakers included practice plastic surgeon Dr Jonathan Toogood, Sally-Anne Dicks of MASC Laser Clinic and Dr Tamara Pheiffer of SkinDNA. Dr Toogood shared many stories of patients’ road to restored confidence and freedom, while Dicks  shared the skincare journey of client Tersia Berry, who had completed a year of personalised skincare treatments under the MY MASC loyalty programme. Tersia won the R50 000 worth of treatments and products in the clinic’s previous competition, and her results and before-and-after photos were shared with attendees (and can be viewed on www.masclaser.co.za). Dr Pheiffer then spelled out the advantages of taking a DNA test to target the specific needs of your skin. (SkinDNA tests are now available at MASC Laser Clinic.)

Skincare product representatives were also at hand to offer one-on-one advice, product information and special promotions. Guests were also treated to product giveaways and delicious refreshments.
